Cosumnes River Nature Preserve

This is our 16th year guiding trips in the Cosumnes River Preserve. The preserve is tucked away just south of Sacramento. On this outing we’ll explore this incredible riparian corridor, accessing hidden areas as only kayakers can.

Elkhorn Slough Wildlife Adventure

Experience the wide range of birds and mammals that either live in or stop by the slough to visit on their migrations. Elkhorn Slough is a perfect spot for beginning paddlers to learn and explore. Join our experienced guides for a paddling experience you won’t forget. Sea otters, harbor seals and over 200 species of birds live in or pass through Elkhorn Slough.

This course will begin on land with a discussion of the equipment, an outline of the day’s activities, and quick overview of proper kayaking techniques. Then we’ll tour  San Leandro Bay, the estuary channel and the beautiful Arrowhead Marsh area.  We’ll break for a shared potluck lunch, bring enough for 8. After lunch, we’ll continue our paddling tour of the area refining each individual’s skills as we go.
PROVIDED
Kayaks, paddles, life vests, paddle jackets and all associated safety equipment. Wetsuits provided when weather requires.

Let us make this summer special for your junior. Using active games, group activities as well as river, lake and wildlife exploration our instructors teach youth kayaking skills and safety.

This class is taught on the Lower American River and covers intermediate skills such as kayak surfing, river reading and eddy catching.

Junior Kayaking Camps (Ages 10-15)

Kids have a great time in this 5 day, adventure-filled program. Kayaking skills & river safety are taught through games, group activities and exploration. These camps are based at Camp Lotus on the South Fork American River.
