The Nimbus Classic is a long standing tradition for paddling racers, their friends and families.  Join us for this exciting lap race on Lake Natoma featuring a triangular course with tight turns.  There are three different options for distance; 2.5K, 5K or 10K.  This is a fantastic spectator course. Paddlers can see where their competitors are through the entire race. Come have a great time at this kick-off to our summer race series!

  • Earn additional entries towards “raffle” prizes for the next events in our series; the River City Marathon, and the Eppie’s Pre-Race.

Classes for all types of paddle craft, including outriggers and sit-on-tops!

  • When? Sunday June 6, 2010 (Look for the 2011 date in January 2011)
  • Where? The large Cottonwood tree in the farthest Eastern parking area (back area) of Nimbus Flats, just off of Hazel and Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova.
  • Times:
    Sign in and registration: 9am-9:30am
    Paddler’s meeting: 9:45am
    Race start time:10am at the Big Cottonwood tree.
  • Cost:$20.00  person on race day, $15.00 advance registration received by Friday June 4th.  Price includes lunch, raffle prizes and awards. Call or e-mail us by Friday, June 4th at  noon and we’ll honor the pre-registration price at the race day registration.

DIRECTIONS
From Hwy 50:
Exit Hazel Avenue.
Travel north a very short distance to the very first right you can take as you come off of the overpass.
Turn RIGHT into to the Nimbus Flats (Lake Natoma) entrance on the east side of Hazel. If you get to the main signal lighted intersection with Gold Country Blvd. you went too far and need to do a U-Turn.
Once you enter the park off of Hazel you will go past the Kiosk, and continue on the perimeter road around the parking lot till you reach the entrance on your right into the rear parking area for Nimbus Flats.
Park anywhere and proceed to the very large and solitary Cottonwood tree along the shore.

From Hwy 80:
In Rocklin, exit at Sierra College Blvd and travel south.
After about 5-1/2 miles, Sierra College Blvd becomes Hazel Avenue
Travel another 6 miles south through the town of Orangevale.
Cross the American River.
After the stop lights at Gold Country Blvd.
Turn LEFT into the Nimbus Flats (Lake Natoma) entrance just before you reach the lighted intersection before entering the overpass area.
Follow the directions above after you enter the park.
