Join us for a truly awesome paddling adventure on the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River. Over fourteen days and 225 river miles we’ll experience a unique isolation from the modern world. Navigate exhilarating whitewater rapids, glide peacefully along breathtakingly beautiful flat water stretches, explore magical side canyons and build friendships to last a lifetime.

We’ll begin our adventure at Lee’s Ferry. Not far downstream the rumble of Badger Rapid gets our hearts pumping. Badger is the first of many fabulous Grand Canyon’s rapids. The rush of challenging and successfully navigating exploding, intimidating rapids like Granite, Hance, Crystal and Lava offers a thrill like no other. World class waves offer unparalleled opportunity for hours of sweet surfing and ear to ear grins.

On our fourteen day journey we’ll surrender repeatedly to the siren song of Grand Canyon’s many side canyons. Each one has a unique character. Among the multitude of attractions are North Canyon’s red rock amphitheatres, the chalky blue waters of the Little Colorado and Havasu, the inviting plunge pool of Elves Chasm and the twisting labyrinth of Matkatamiba. Hike up Thunder River to see it spout from a sheer rock face. Climb out of the canyon for the first time in days as we trek towards the Throne Room and cool, petroglyph studded patios just above plunging Deer Creek Falls.

Desert wildlife go about accompanied by the liquid trill of the Canyon Wren. From towering boulders Big Horn Sheep place wagers on which paddlers will run a good line through pounding Deubendorff Rapid. Mule Deer graze quietly among the tamarisk as twilight sets the stage for erratic bat ballets. Evening camp visitors may include mischievous ringtail cats, spotted skunks, ravens and kangaroo rats.

Arizona Raft Adventures (AZRA) will provide motorized raft support for this trip. Motor rigs are the perfect support vehicles for kayak trip. The ability to cover more river miles adds convenience and flexibility to our days on the water. Azra’s raft guides are highly-skilled and multi-talented. They’ll enthrall you with discourses on geology, Canyon flora and fauna, Major Powell’s expedition and more while navigating the river or cooking a gourmet meal. You couldn’t ask for more accomplished people.

Of course Current Adventures’ guides Dan Crandall & Lynn Myers are equally competent. Lynn has been a professional Grand Canyon raft guide for 26 years. He’s also an accomplished kayaker with 38 years experience. See the results of another of Lynn’s passions at Lynn Myers Photography. Dan Crandall owns Current Adventures Kayak School, The River Store and The River Store Shuttle. He’s two time National Surf Kayak Champion and a 2005 World Surf Kayak Champion. Lynn and Dan will help build camaraderie and memories that will last a lifetime.

As our trip comes to a close we’ll take out at Diamond Creek and reluctantly head back to Flagstaff and home. We’ve yet to meet the paddler who hasn’t wanted to go right back to Lee’s Ferry and start the journey all over again.

Dates for 2012: September 1-14, 2012 (14 days & 13 nights!) Kayak & raft options available
Cost: $3650
Prerequisites: Rafters- none, Kayakers- Class III skills and a solid river roll

Join our experienced guides for a paddling experience you won’t forget. Paddlers on this trip frequently spot sea otters and harbor seals. Pelicans are only one of over 200 species of birds that live in or pass through Elkhorn Slough. This is an incredible outing for families, and folks of all ages and skill levels. In fact Elkhorn Slough is a perfect spot for beginning paddlers to learn and explore. We use very stable kayaks and limit the number of paddlers on each outing. Keeping paddling groups small reduces our impact on the resources and residents of the area. It also gives you the opportunity for lots of direct interaction with your instructor/guide. The instructor for this trip has over 20 years experience teaching and exploring on Elkhorn Slough!
Kayak and all necessary paddling equipment are provided and included in the cost of this trip.

Cost: $79.00

Are you tired of trying to find a kayak for Eppie's Great Race? Are you looking for a kayak to take out for an evening paddle on Lake Natoma or the Lower American? Well we have a solution for you. Current Adventures Kayaking has a slew of touring and recreational kayaks for sale now that the Fall season is here. Some of these boats were used for the first time in Eppie's Great Race and have little use on them since then! With so many to choose from and a lot of the best paddling in the Fall and Winter it's a perfect time to find the right kayak for you.

If you have been thinking about getting a “new” used kayak, or maybe your first kayak, Current Adventures has a lot to offer.

We know that there are a lot of boats out there and many places to buy them. It can be very confusing at first. We work hard to provide unbeatable customer service and to make sure that folks get the right start in kayaking. That extends from our paddling instruction programs to our intimate way of helping folks understand the choices of boats and paddles that are out there. Whether you are looking for Sea Kayaks, Fishing Kayaks (Sit on tops) or recreational boats for calm water kayaking, we’ve got you covered. We can help you determine which ones are the best for your intended use as well as the best “fit” for you physically and in terms of your experience level, budget and other relevant factors. Owner Dan Crandall often meets personally and for several hours with interested folks to make sure all of their questions are answered and they are prepared to make the right choices. Dan has been educating new and continuing paddlers for over 20 years.

Bottom line, we have a great selection of quality used touring kayaks, as well as fishing and recreational kayaks, with many of them only very lightly used this season. Some have only seen one or two demos on the water! Our boats are not rentals, they are only used for classes and demos and stored inside. We carry models from Wilderness Systems, Dagger, Perception, Wave Sport, Necky, Liquid Logic and Pyranha. If you want the best experience buying a used boat, contact us by phone at 530-333-9115 or by e-mail to Dan@Kayaking.com and we’ll get you set up right!

Check out the selection below, or call us for more recent additions to the list of available kayaks.
