What is the Pre-Race Clinic?

Eppies Great Race TrainingCurrent Adventures Kayak School, in conjunction with Sacramento’s new “Great American Triathlon”  , co-sponsors this  paddling instruction clinic to get you kayak and paddling ready for the Bob Hanna Memorial Pre-Race and for The Great American Triathlon. ( GAT) All skill levels are welcome. Local experts  in  paddling instruction and top competitors from the local kayak racing scene will be on hand to provide inside tips and insight into the techniques and strategies that can help you paddle far more effectively and safely during The Great American Triathlon Race.

How does it work?

Participants will be divided by craft and experience levels. Valuable paddling skills for beginners to experts will be addressed for all types of watercraft. During the clinic we will proceed from the Lower Sunrise access downstream to River Bend Park, covering the entire Great American Triathlon paddling course.

2019 Pre Race Clinic Date:
Saturday, June 29th

Registration may be done in advance or on site registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. near the “GAT”  watercraft starting area Eppies Great Race Pre Race Clinic(south side of the lower Sunrise footbridge, downstream of Sunrise Avenue) and the Pre-Race clinic will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last ’till approximately noon.

$25/person – payable upon registration:  a portion of the proceeds benefit the American River Parkway Foundation

– Don’t forget the Pre-Race the week before the GAT! It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get out for a fun race and after party and check out their paddling skills on the race course with other paddlers on the water only a week before The Great American Triathlon! Click here for more info

Paddling Instruction options:

Current Adventures Kayak School offers training packages for all skill levels of paddlers. Check out our Great American Triathlon kayak training sessions  or you can also look into our private paddling instruction options and other kayaking classes we offer

Equipment Options:

Participants must provide their own kayak equipment or arrange rentals prior to the Pre-Race clinic day.  For kayak and gear rental contact Current Adventures at (530) 333-9115 or (888) 452-9254. Helmets and life jackets are required. Bike helmets are acceptable.
